SAMPLE PROGRAMS

Classical-ish

We often think of the saxophone as a “chameleon,” weaving its way into jazz clubs, radio hits, and in this case, concert halls. Aruna Quartet presents string quartets, opera arias, folk tunes and Alexander Glazunov’s final piece of chamber music.

Hyper-rhythm

Uncanny grooves, minimalist meditations and club bangers– Aruna Quartet presents a program of hyper-rhythmic music inspired by nonverbal understanding, Pablo Neruda and Miami Sound Machine.

Not Quite Songs or Dances

Sometimes when we teach, we have students categorize works into “songs” and “dances.” These works defy this categorization: unsingable lullabies, lyrical waltzes and Baroque birdsong.
